Transitional Housing (completed November, 2014)

One of the problems facing the home became more acute as many of  the girls there since the opening in 1995 were now approaching 17-18-19 years of age in 2009.  This is the only home and family many of them have ever known. Many will get married but even they do not have the life skills for cooking and other facets of independent life. They had no where to go and there is not enough room to allow younger girls to enter the home. (15 girls 5 y.o. or less were taken in in 2018 and we anticipate room for 8 more in 2019.)

Dental Equipment

The dental equipment in the Home’s clinic is old and unreliable. We had new and used replacement equipment packed and ready to ship for more than five years but were not sure we could gain entry under the previous corrupt system. Modern equipment is now readily available here in Ukraine but is expensive by local standards. A Chinese brand delivery unit is less than $3000.

Update: A donor From Netherlands has stepped forward and provided a modern brand-name chair and x-ray unit with very mild usage... Modern digital x-ray visualization equipment would still be a dream come true.

Medical Supplies and Equipment

The story was the same in every hospital in 2014-15. Budgets for hospitals had been cut to 20% because of the war. Inflation and devaluation of the hryvnia reduced the hospital’s purchasing power to about 7%. In 2016, after previous suitcase deliveries of sutures and instruments, we were able to organize and purchase a 20 foot container of medical supplies to Amozov National Cardiovascular Surgical Institute in Kyiv. Thankfully the situation is not so dire today but good equipment is always appreciated. A special gift is out-of-country training and observations. Anyone who could assist in arranging medical trips for doctors or help with hosting, please let us know.

Otchiy Dim School Project

To overcome bullying, crowded classrooms, lack of remedial instruction, and impersonal planning Father’s House started schooling children at the home. The state now says they must have a separate building. A nearby 95% constructed mansion with a large lot is for sale….
